Blinking LED Using IC 555
The Blinking LED using IC555 uses IC 555 Timer which is a versatile component commonly used in electronics to create various timing and oscillation applications. In this project, we use the IC 555 in astable mode to make an LED blink at a regular interval.
Components Needed
- IC 555 Timer
- LED (Light Emitting Diode)
- Resistors: 1kΩ, 10kΩ, and 330Ω
- Capacitors: 10µF and 100nF
- Breadboard and Connecting Wires
- Power Supply: 5V DC
Blinking LED using IC555 : How It Works
In astable mode, the 555 timer generates a continuous square wave signal. This signal alternates the output between high and low states, which turns the LED on and off. The timing components—resistors and capacitors—determine the blinking frequency.
This simple circuit demonstrates the IC 555’s ability to create reliable timing functions and is a great introduction to digital electronics and signal generation.
