Password based Circuit Breaker
A password-based circuit breaker enhances electrical safety by requiring a specific password to control the activation or deactivation of a circuit. This project employs the CD4017 decade counter IC, a relay, and additional components to create a secure switching mechanism.
Components:
- CD4017 IC: Decade counter with ten decoded outputs.
- Relay: Electrically operated switch for controlling high-power circuits.
- Keypad: For password input.
- Diodes (e.g., 1N4007): Prevent short circuits between outputs.
- Transistor (e.g., BC547): Drives the relay.
- Resistors and LEDs: Indicate system status.
Operation:
- Password Entry: The user inputs a predefined sequence via the keypad.
- Sequence Verification: The CD4017 IC processes the input; correct sequences advance the counter appropriately.
- Activation: Upon correct password entry, the IC triggers the transistor, energizing the relay to close or open the circuit.
- Security Measures: Incorrect entries reset the system, preventing unauthorized access.
This setup ensures that only individuals with the correct password can control the circuit breaker, enhancing security and preventing unauthorized use. Such systems are particularly useful in environments where controlled access to electrical systems is crucial.
